For years, patients have walked into the office of George Rice, MD, carrying the same frustration: They know something feels off, but nobody has quite connected the dots. Fatigue is written off as “just stress.” Brain fog gets blamed on aging. Hormones, digestion, sleep issues? Maybe normal, maybe not.

Dr. Rice has built his career on asking a different question: What’s actually going on here?
“When you understand your body’s story, you can change your health in a meaningful and lasting way.”
Now practicing at Love.Life, the sprawling health and wellness club that focuses on longevity and total health optimization, Dr. Rice specializes in integrative and functional medicine—a field that looks beyond symptoms to investigate how the body’s systems interact.
“It’s about understanding the story behind why someone doesn’t feel well,” says Dr. Rice, who views medicine as full- body detective work. “Symptoms are signals.”
That philosophy has shaped more than two decades in medicine. After earning degrees from Stanford University and Rush University, followed by residency training at the University of Southern California, Dr. Rice gravitated toward a more personalized style of care. Today his work focuses on hormone optimization, metabolic health, gut health and longevity—often helping patients who feel like they’ve exhausted every other option.
“Many people come to Love.Life after years of frustration,” he shares. “When they finally understand what is happening in their body and begin to feel better, it transforms not only their health but their confidence, relationships and overall quality of life.”
His entry into the field of medicine was deeply personal. When his wife developed chronic health issues, Dr. Rice found that conventional treatments addressed symptoms but not the underlying causes. Exploring functional medicine and hormone optimization changed the trajectory of her health … and eventually his career.
“That experience completely shifted how I thought about medicine,” says Dr. Rice, who works as part of a multidisciplinary team that combines 20+ health care specialists under one roof at Love.Life.
Established in 2020 by Whole Foods Market’s founder and former executives, Love.Life boasts a 45,000-square-foot space that combines medical care, fitness, recovery therapies, spa services and nutrition in one setting, with a focus on helping members take a more proactive, personalized approach to health. The atmosphere feels more boutique wellness club than traditional medical office, with calm lighting and sleek interiors.
Love.Life’s approach is state-of-the-art, with advanced diagnostics and testing on site. Yet Dr. Rice believes the most important tool is surprisingly old-school: “Listening—a lot of people simply haven’t felt heard. When we take the time to understand their individuality, we are far more successful in identifying and resetting imbalances and ultimately optimizing health.”

Members undergo comprehensive testing and assessments designed to uncover patterns that may otherwise go unnoticed. From hormone imbalances and inflammation to sleep and metabolic issues, the physician-led care teams create individualized plans that often blend nutrition guidance, lifestyle changes, fitness coaching, stress management and targeted therapies.
“Symptoms are signals.”
The club also features a wide range of fitness and performance technology, from AI-assisted strength training to specialized recovery equipment, alongside a spa offering both traditional and Eastern therapies. A public café rounds out the experience, with a menu centered on whole ingredients and meals made without seed oils or artificial additives.
“We are best known for helping members who have not found answers elsewhere finally understand what is happening in their body—and how to correct it,” Dr. Rice points out. “We help individuals move beyond symptom management to truly living with energy, clarity and purpose.”
Always forward-thinking, Love.Life recently added a new modality and two comprehensive tests, which are also available to non-members. SoftWave Therapy is a type of shockwave therapy that is noninvasive and regenerative, stimulating the body’s natural healing, reducing chronic pain and repairing damaged tissues. The Advanced Cardiovascular Assessment gives patients a complete picture of their cardiovascular health, and the noninvasive Multi-organ Ultrasound Assessment evaluates eight vital organs, providing a clear picture of thyroid and abdominal organ function.
“When you understand your body’s story, you can change your health in a meaningful and lasting way,” says Dr. Rice.
For patients who arrive exhausted, discouraged or feeling unlike themselves, that message alone can feel like medicine.
