What started in 1909 as a seaside community hospital located in the Civil War-era Clarence Hotel ultimately became Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in San Pedro. In 1925, local physicians and business leaders opened San Pedro General Hospital on Sixth Street. Today, we hold the distinction of being the South Bay’s first Primary Stroke Center certified by the Joint Commission. Our Acute Rehabilitation Program has been recognized among the top one percent in the nation, we hold a Baby-Friendly Hospital designation and are recognized for one of the best behavioral health programs in Southern California.

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance has a reputation for clinical excellence and sophisticated technology with a personal touch. New investments in cardiovascular excellence, and women’s and children’s health services continue our commitment to provide world-class care to all South Bay residents. Our hospital has earned the coveted ANCC Nurse Magnet recognition for exemplary patient care, nursing practice collaboration, patient outcomes and nursing research. Healthgrades awarded us its Five-Star rating for Treatment of Heart Failure for four years in a row and Becker’s Hospital Review named us to its list of 100 Great Community Hospitals across the nation.
