About the Shop
I opened Tabula Rasa in 2000 to create a shop that felt welcoming, inspiring and deeply connected to the way people live and gather in Southern California. In 2005, we doubled in size, allowing us to expand our product mix and elevate the customer experience. Today, we offer gifts, home and entertaining accents, candles, local artisan goods and Manhattan Beach-inspired pieces. Our team curates the merchandise and creates the hospitality that customers feel the moment they walk through the door. Building lasting relationships has always mattered as much as the merchandise itself.
Giving Back
Giving back has always been part of Tabula Rasa’s DNA. Over the years, we’ve supported local schools, nonprofits and causes close to our hearts, but my commitment to the South Bay extends beyond the shop. I’ve served three terms as president of the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business & Professional Association, advocating for small businesses and a thriving downtown. I was also a founder of the MB Farmers Market, now a beloved community gathering place and one of many ways I’ve been able to contribute as a retailer, advocate, connector and community builder.
Shop Local
Local businesses do so much more than drive the economy. We help shape the personality and spirit of our community. We’re where people gather, celebrate milestones, build relationships and stay connected to the place we call home. Independent businesses bring character, warmth and authenticity that can’t be replicated. When we thrive, the entire community benefits. I’ve always believed strong communities are built by people willing to invest their time, energy and heart into them. That’s how our town stays vibrant, welcoming and distinctly its own.
New & Exciting
2026 has been a creatively energizing year for us. With the world’s attention on Los Angeles for international soccer, we’ve developed Manhattan Beach-inspired apparel, gifts and keepsakes that reflect the global spirit. We’re hosting chef/author Serena Wolf for a cookbook event—bringing together food, entertaining and conversation. What excites me most is evolving while staying true to the heart of Tabula Rasa: discovery, connection, creativity and community.
Southbay Love
I’ve had a long and meaningful relationship with Southbay magazine, beginning when they launched their Women in Business profiles. It has been incredibly special to see Tabula Rasa included in holiday guides and editorial features that celebrate local businesses, style and community. Southbay beautifully captures the spirit of the South Bay while thoughtfully spotlighting the people, places and businesses that give it its character.
