Denise Arredondo Epeneter

With more than 23 years of experience in real estate, construction project management and property management, Denise Arredondo Epeneter assists clients through her firm, Silver King Brokers. She opened the brokerage in 2018 with her husband, Chad Epeneter. Previously Denise worked for Santa Monica’s Civil Engineering Department, at various start-up companies and as a residential project manager for spec and custom-built properties. As president/CEO of Silver King Brokers, she has shifted her focus solely to real estate.

Why are you considered a go-to person in the South Bay community?

Relationships. I deeply value and respect all of my relationships. I strive to treat people with kindness, respect and honesty. I take a personal approach to everything I do and live by the mantra “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I love our community and take pride when I see our clients around town who have now become friends. When an issue arises—as it always does in home ownership and construction—I am happy to assist and help find a solution. In addition, being fluent in Spanish is a huge value-add for our clients and also beneficial for communicating with vendors and subcontractors.

What challenges have you faced as a woman in business?

Starting a woman-owned and operated real estate brokerage in a town that has so much competition was challenging. My background in construction as a project manager has been invaluable, as it gives me the ability to recognize the construction qualities and conditions of a home and educate my clients about those factors.

What are the benefits of having women in leadership?

Empathy, love and determination—all qualities women carry.  Real estate is the most personal asset someone owns, and as an agent it’s important to take that into consideration. We must be empathetic as people deal with life changes due to family, career, death or some other circumstance. Every transaction can be challenging, but we love what we do and are determined to ensure our client’s best interests are met.

What motivates you to go to work every day?

My kids and my parents. Being able to show my son and young daughters that mama owns and operates our successful family business—and that one day they could do the same—is what keeps me going! Also, my parents gave my siblings and me everything they didn’t have, so I will never stop trying to be the same type of amazing parents that they were and still are!

How do you foster a positive work environment?

When we are at work, we are away from our family and friends. So I want to ensure that we have a great time while we are there. We all want to work to live—not live to work. This can be accomplished by establishing a positive and growth-driven office atmosphere.

Share a significant accomplishment in your career.

I was awarded the 2022 South Bay Association of Realtors Rookie of the Year Award. I learned that staying true to myself, keeping integrity with everything I do, maintaining attention to detail, and providing extraordinary customer service—not to mention working countless hours seven days a week—has all been worth it because my peers and clients recognize my hard work ethic and personal approach. Through positive feedback and numerous word-of-mouth referrals from my clients, friends and family, I have been able to close more than $50 million in real estate transactions. Now as we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we have built great momentum with our amazing team of agents, clients and partners. I am excited for the growth of the business as we scale and continue to build our legacy.

Have you had mentors who influenced your career?

I’ve been so blessed to have several mentors, beginning with my parents, who always treated their customers the way they wanted to be treated. That strong work ethic and honesty have carried into Silver King Brokers and are the foundation of our business. In addition, I have had encouragement from family and friends throughout my life. They saw something in me that I didn’t even see in myself at the time. They went out of their way to encourage me to grow and were genuinely happy for all of my success. I intend to do the same for others and do not take any of their encouragement for granted. It takes a village to be successful, and I am thankful for my husband, family and friends (including my fellow South Bay mamas) who are always willing to help!

Where do you see yourself in the future?

In the future, I see my kids being successful and selling real estate to my clients’ kids. I want to share my legacy with them. My lineage has come a long way from the small ranches in Mexico where my parents were born. My husband, kids, grandchildren (God willing) and I will still be enjoying the South Bay that we love and are blessed enough to call home.
