Christine Costa Interiors

Describe the featured project.

We were brought on right after the family purchased this Palos Verdes property. The exterior of the home has great curb appeal—it’s a white clapboard with a California Craftsman feel—but a developer had done a quick flip. We needed to breathe life back into it and landed on the concept of melding the spirit of California horse country with a collected English country estate. We wanted the house to feel put together over decades not months, while keeping California-inspired elements: stripped-down, simplified cabinetry, mid-century furnishings, organic materials and plenty of color a la the British but in neutralized tones.

Tell us about your business.

We specialize in designing artfully layered residences and boutique commercial spaces, inspired by their landscape, history and the people that live in them. We don’t like to be defined by a single style but instead draw from a mix of historical, environmental and modern aesthetics to create spaces that are uniquely their own. I have a formal education in oil painting, so we look at homes as artful compositions that shape the way people feel and live.

I opened the design studio five years ago after a decade-long career in public relations and advertising. I promised myself the studio would approach every project “for the art of it” and would not let timelines, budgets or logistics overshadow the real goal: to create beautiful, deeply personal spaces that redefine the way our clients experience their lives. We just relaunched under Christine Costa Interiors (formerly CC Zippert Design), and our new branding embodies this ethos.

What type of projects do you primarily focus on?

We are a full-service studio and typically work on large-scale, down-to-the-studs renovations as well as whole-home refinishing, furnishing and decoration. Our clients seek us out to create timeless, collected spaces that feel highly personal and one of a kind. We work throughout the South Bay and have projects in Greater Los Angeles and out of state.
