Serving Adolescents

The Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children (LuskinOIC) operates in strategic alliance with UCLA Health, with physicians who serve as faculty and researchers at the UCLA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. This partnership ensures treatments reflect cutting-edge research while addressing critical needs. This is particularly important as children ages 5 to 14 account for nearly 40% of all sports-related hospitalizations nationwide. With a decade of distinguished practice, I specialize in treating adolescent sports injuries—from ligament tears to complex dislocations—while contributing to community outreach programs and international children’s health initiatives.

A Family-Centered Approach

Patients working with me at LuskinOIC receive a world-class and personalized approach to care, with access to the latest surgical innovations. We focus not only on treating injuries but also on supporting long-term growth and mobility. Our collaborative, family-centered approach ensures every child receives the best possible outcome in a welcoming and compassionate environment.

In the Community

At LuskinOIC, our mission doesn’t stop at the clinic doors. We reach into the community with outreach programs, sports injury prevention workshops and global initiatives to deliver orthopaedic care where it’s needed most. All of us proudly volunteer to serve children worldwide through our International Children’s Program, which has been delivering international orthopaedic care for over 100 years. True health care should be about building healthier communities, near and far.

Building Trust and Credibility

We offer care designed specifically for children, not treatments borrowed from adults. Families trust us to support every child’s journey, whether it’s a high school athlete recovering from a knee injury or a child with cerebral palsy in adaptive sports. Our commitment is to guide and support our patients through every challenge and every triumph.

Advocating for Youth

The most rewarding part of my work at LuskinOIC is helping children heal, regain their strength and live full, active lives. Watching a young patient return to the activities they love is an incredible feeling. The most difficult part is seeing families face obstacles—whether emotional, medical or insurance-related—that can delay or complicate care. Our team works tirelessly to advocate for every child and ensure they get the treatment they deserve.

Integrating AI

We are leading the future of pediatric orthopaedic care by integrating artificial intelligence into diagnostics, treatment planning and surgical precision. We are at the forefront of AI research, collaborating with other top institutions nationwide to study the best applications of AI in our approach. Technology will never replace expertise, but when combined with human insight and surgical skulls, it empowers us to deliver truly next-generation care for every child we serve.

Changes in Orthopaedics

Pediatric orthopaedics is evolving faster than ever, bringing new opportunities to improve outcomes and transform the way we care for growing children. At LuskinOIC, we offer the full spectrum of cutting-edge pediatric orthopaedic care, including minimally invasive techniques, regenerative medicine, 3D-printed tools for preoperative planning and surgery, and personalized post-operative physical therapy. Our motion analysis lab also helps young athletes safely return to sports with tailored recovery programs.

Wise Words

I encourage aspiring medical professionals to remain curious, lead with compassion and always keep the patient at the center of everything they do. Medicine is constantly evolving, but the human connection remains timeless. I believe that combining technical excellence with genuine empathy is what truly makes a difference in a child’s life and shapes your career.
