Sasha Sanjar Fattahi

Palos Verdes native Sasha Sanjar Fattahi recently opened a.lign, a boutique athletic reformer Pilates studio that blends contemporary movement with the foundational principles of classical Pilates. She has practiced Pilates for more than 15 years. Sasha and her team offer small-group reformer classes, private and duet training, and specialized programming designed for every stage of a client’s fitness journey.

Who has made a big impact on your career?

My sister, Sahar Sanjar, invited me to join her PR agency, laChambre, which gave me a front-row seat to building a successful business and becoming an entrepreneur myself. My parents, Morgan and Saab Sanjar, are lifelong entrepreneurs who have built beloved South Bay businesses including Yellow Vase, Avenue Italy and Il Posto. Watching them create businesses that became gathering places for the community shaped the way I think about leadership, hospitality and perseverance. And I wouldn’t have taken the leap without the unwavering support of my husband. When opening a studio felt like a daunting idea, he encouraged me to bet on myself. He believed in this vision from the very beginning and has been my biggest supporter every step of the way.

When people tell the story of your business years from now, what do you hope they’ll say?

I hope they say that a.lign became more than just a Pilates studio—that it became part of the fabric of our community. Of course, I hope we’re known for exceptional instruction, but more importantly I hope we’re remembered for how we made people feel.

What inspired you to pursue a fitness career?

Pilates changed the way I viewed movement and what my body was capable of. After practicing for many years, I realized I wanted to create a space where others could experience that same transformation. When I decided to open a.lign, I was thinking about creating something that would be serving our community decades from now. That long-term perspective has shaped nearly every decision we’ve made.
