The dental practice of Dr. Michael Hopkins has been serving the South Bay for the past 25 years. Boasting a beach-casual vibe, the practice is also high-tech and features treatments such as Invisalign for orthodontic treatment, digital X-rays and laser treatments. They were one of the first CEREC providers in the area, offering crowns in a few hours and incorporating digital Cad Cam technology. Dr. Barbara Kane joined the office three years ago.

What can parents do to help their children establish good oral health habits?
“One of the best things parents can do for their children is START YOUNG! The earlier a child starts going to the dentist for hygiene visits and checkups, the more at ease they will be. Instilling good brushing habits at home from a young age is also key—that way it becomes a part of daily life!”
What is your advice for patients who are afraid to visit a dentist?
“We have had countless success stories of people overcoming their fear of the dentist at our practice and now really enjoy their dental visits with us! Talking with your dentist is the key to beating dental distress. Modern dentistry can be painless. You can feel more in control if you take part in decisions about your treatment. During your appointment, ask your dentist to explain what’s happening at every stage of the procedure.”
How do you earn your patients’ trust?
“We believe earning our patients’ trust with caring communication goes a long way. Taking the time to sit down and talk to our patients is one of our favorite aspects of what we do. In addition, we like to show our patients their teeth. We have a digital imaging system and camera that allows us to show our patients which services they need before we even offer them. This really builds rapport with our patients and increases trust.”
