The Great Pumpkin Hunt
October 1 @ 9:00 am - November 30 @ 5:00 pmFree with Garden admission
After a sneaky squirrel and ravenous rabbit ate last year’s prized pumpkin, the birds of South Coast Botanic Garden (ravens, Great Horned Owls, hummingbirds and Red Shouldered Hawks) have teamed up to save this year’s patch. They’ve secreted the pumpkins away to a clandestine location. Can you help us find the missing pumpkin patch?
Armed with your birdwatcher’s map, travel through the grounds of South Coast Botanic Garden in search of bird houses to collect hints the birds have left inside. The clues will lead you to the South Coast Botanic Garden Pumpkin Patch, a whimsical installation perfect for a fall photograph. The inspired hunt will be appropriate for all ages, with an adventurous light hike through the Garden’s nature trails. Put on your tennis shoes for an afternoon of fresh air on this energy burning expedition!
The event will take place October 1 – November 30, 2017 from 9am–5pm and will include an imaginative scavenger hunt, light hiking, a pumpkin shop and access to the 87-acre South Coast Botanic Garden. The event will be appealing to all ages. (It’s not just for kids! The Great Pumpkin Hunt makes a terrific daytime date for couples getting into the autumn spirit.) Halloween costumes are welcome. Selfies are encouraged.
